Simple distinction and application of DD motor from linear motor and servo motor

DD Motor: 'Direct Drive Motor'

Direct drive motor is that there is no other transmission or deceleration mechanism between the motor and the load, in a broad sense, linear motor (Linear motor) also belongs to the category of direct drive, because linear motor is already a proper term, in order to avoid cognitive confusion.

The term "direct drive motor" refers to a variety of rotary motors that can be directly combined with the load without any other mechanism in the middle, and can achieve the functions and specifications required by the application system. Therefore, the direct drive motors generally mentioned refer to rotary types, referred to as DD motors.

In addition, because the biggest difference in characteristics of this type of motor compared with ordinary servo motors is that the output torque is very high, some people call it torque motor.

According to the different structures of motors, DD motors can be divided into DC type, PMSynchronized type, VR type, and hybrid type.

The application of DD motor can generally be roughly divided into two directions:

First, the DD motor itself already contains a decontaminator or encoder, and is covered with a shell.

The main use is also servo servo, which is used to replace traditional AC servo.

Another application direction is towards high torque and high precision, with large processing machines and rotating tables,

This type of DD motor has no shell, bearing and feedback device in the appearance structure.

It can also be called frameless structure or built-in structure,

The positioning feedback device is installed separately with the motor driver interface and assembled directly to the machine.
